Kite was appointed to project manage and build a new extension, reconfigure space internally and build a new kitchen and utility.

The clients were keen to refurbish as sustainably as they could within their budget.

The Kitchen and Utility Details

Installing a combination of pre-built off the shelf cabinets with bespoke built Kite units.

Recycled plastic components that can be recycled at the end of their use. All other fixings and ironmongery used within our kitchens have been carefully sourced to also be fully recyclable.
All kitchen appliances are selected for their quality of build, durability and low energy consumption.
All of our carcasses have been designed with a glue less construction method allowing them to be re-purposed further down the line.
And finally, bespokely made in our local workshop using skilled craftsmen.

Bruce and Helen at Kite Creative started our kitchen extension and internal works in August 2021. We had taken our thoughts to an architect, and, using their drawings, Bruce was able to pull the details of the design together in order to build. Throughout the build Bruce kept us informed about the material supply difficulties (due to Covid19 and Brexit), and was able to keep the inevitable delays to a minimum. He brought in a strong team of builders, and trades that meant our project was finished to an excellent standard.

Where Kite Creative really came to the fore was the internal fit out of our new kitchen. We knew we wanted to focus on sustainability, but had no clue as to which would be the best option, and still within our budget. Kite were able to introduce us to new sustainable products such as eco plaster, carbon fixing paint, and a recycled glass worktop. For budget reasons we used mass-produced carcasses where the sizes worked, but Kite created a bespoke island and beautiful larder unit with slide and hide retractable doors to perfectly fit the space, and our needs. The kitchen was finished off with doors made from low VOC mdf, painted with Graphenstone paint. This makes them repaint-able and repairable for the future, and will therefore last us longer.

Throughout, both Bruce and Helen were able to advise us on design, product choice and aesthetics, and we felt safe in their hands.
